Anytime I hit a sticking point I adjusted my nutrition and was able to keep gaining. Like most new fitness/life endeavors, things were smooth sailing to start. If we included non-lean mass that may be more like 3-4lbs/month. If I did it the right way, knowing my body type, commitment level, and a understanding what realistic standards were I should be gaining about 2-3lbs of lean mass a month.

I, however, had a rough idea that I’d bulk to probably 210lbs, or depending on how things went, maybe 215lbs. I know fit pros and self-proclaimed fit gurus alike are wanting to call me out on breaking the cardinal rule of setting any fitness goal. Back on track, to be honest I also didn’t have a set timeline. I’ve never had a huge problem bulking, and instead, had a huge problem keeping the weight – partly because of my high athletic activity outside of weights and partly because I would try and use mass-gainer formulas which kicked the shit out of my digestive tract and gave me all sorts of issues (no more of that crap). I’ll put all my before/after stats below – but my goal was to reach a lean 200lbs that I could sustain. So I started bulking once the high school basketball team I helped coach had their season end on February 23rd, 2014. I cheated once a week with my girlfriend when she had her cheat meal and if I ever had a hardcore video game ‘sess’ with my bros, I would chow down more than a few five cent candies. But, even in admitting that, my diet was ridiculously clean – I was eating so much that I never really craved anything. I’ve also had about 15 years of athletics under my belt so I wasn’t too worried about burning off any extra fat gained after I finished my bulking cycle.

In other words, I burn calories like a coal oven (sorry ladies). It started off as just a traditional bulking phase I wasn’t too worried about putting on a lot of fat mass because I’m an ectomorph straight to the bone. It coincided perfectly with my girlfriend’s (bikini) and coworker’s (bodybuilding) competitions, so sticking to it wasn’t all that hard. I figured I would officially post the body stats and pictures of my most recent journey to add some super awesome muscle mass to my body.
